The village of Oriskany mobilizes to support a young mother suffering from cancer and her children

ORISKANY, NY – You see this happening quite often in small communities. Family, friends, even complete strangers come together to support one of their own.

On Sunday, the village of Oriskany gathered at the Oriskany Legion for a benefit, and to support Jordyn Ramsey, a young mother with cancer, and her two children aged 7 and 4.

There were over 30 raffle baskets, lots of food, live music, clowns and even a bouncy house for the kids.

At the age of 29, Jordyn was diagnosed with stage 4 sarcoma. Unfortunately, her cancer was very aggressive and did not respond to treatment, but for one day, thanks to the Oriskany community, Jordyn and her family can forget the difficult times they face.

“It’s very impressive to see how many people came out to support me and my little family,” says Ramsey. “It’s things like this that take my mind off the everyday things that I have to think about because of my diagnosis. So it’s good to be with all of these people and just be happy and have a nice sunny day with all of these people. “

If you would like to donate to help Jordyn and her family, a Venmo account under @ Amanda-Detrick has been created for them.
