Bristol hosts Christmas tree lighting on Sunday | News, Sports, Jobs


THE TOWNSHIP CELEBRATES THE HOLIDAYS: The 37th Year of Bristol Township Park Christmas Lighting will take place on Sunday at 6:00 pm The Bristol Community Museum, Dr Brinkerhoff’s office and the Old Barber Shop will be open to the public from 5:30 pm at 6:00 p.m. and again half an hour after the lighting.

NEWTON FALLS CELEBRATION: The Newton Falls Area Commerce Association will be holding its tree-lighting ceremony from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday between Canal and Center streets. Various activities are planned on the Nutcracker theme in the village.

Santa’s Workshop hosts the annual toy drive with unwrapped toys, new clothes and monetary donations that can be dropped off at 25 W. Broad St., Newton Falls. Collection boxes are also installed at the Dollar General Store and the Family Dollar Store.

HOLIDAY EVENTS: Christmas in the Village will be held Saturday at 6 p.m. at McDonald Village Park and the Ohio Avenue Fire Department. There will be annual tree lighting and a visit with Santa Claus.

Weathersfield will also be having a holiday celebration at 7 pm Saturday at the park kiosk near National Route 46. Santa will be visiting the children.

While there is no tree lighting, Lordstown Village will have all of the holiday lights on in the park at 6 p.m. today off Salt Springs Road.

REVERSE DRAW: The Healthy Hearts and Paws Project in Brookfield will host a reverse draw fundraiser today from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Tiffany’s Banquet Center, 601 Bedford Road. Fundraising will help HHPP continue to help dogs with HIV and medical needs get a second chance. Tickets cost $ 65 and include a chance to win the grand prize of $ 4,000, HHPP puppies, over 150 baskets, live music, door prizes, a cash cake and a lottery tree.

JCC OPENS WINTER CAMPUS: The Winter Campus of the Youngstown Jewish Community Center opens today. Skating will be free and open to the community on the JCC rink and curling lane until January 2. Hours of operation are 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays, and noon to 8 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Skate rental is $ 3 for JCC members and $ 4 for non-members. Snacks are available for purchase at the Ice Shack. S’mores will be offered at 5 p.m. every Saturday.

Free family events will take place on December 4 and 19 and January 2.

December 4th will be Hanukkah & Hot Cocoa from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Participants will enjoy s’mores by the fire. December 19 will be a “Frozen” Princess Party from noon to 2 p.m. Participants will be able to take photos with princesses at the selfie station and special treats will be available for purchase at the ice cream shack.

Skate in the New Year with the JCC from noon to 8 p.m. on January 2. Participants will be able to take photos at the Selfie Station and enjoy s’mores by the fire. They will receive free 2022 glasses and noise generators. Special treats will be available for purchase at the Ice Shack.

ANCIENT CHRISTMAS: An old fashioned Christmas at Lanterman’s Mill will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. There will be “A Christmas story” film on the big screen, visit from Santa Claus and crafts for children. Santa will be escorted to the mill by police from Mill Creek MetroParks on Saturday at noon.

To share the holiday spirit with others, consider bringing a new hat, scarf, or pair of mittens to decorate a “Donate a tree.” Donated items will warm local children in need this winter.
