Beerwah village awaits completion of construction of Panchayat Ghar which started in 2012 – Kashmir Reader

BUDGAM: A Panchayat Ghar (office) whose construction started in 2012 in the village of Churumujru in Beerwah tehsil is not yet completed, even after 9 years.

Muhammad Shahbain Sheikh, Sarpanch of the village, told Kashmir Reader that only the walls of Panchayat Ghar were built. “There is no office where we can discuss panchayat related work in our area,” he said.

Mohammad Arif Wani, a resident of Churumujru village, said that due to the absence of a Panchayat Ghar in the village, people attend Gram Shaba-related programs in open fields.

“The government should take the necessary measures and complete the ongoing work of Panchayat Ghar in the village, so that the population can benefit from certain facilities,” Wani said.

He added that the condition of the walls of Panchayat Ghar is deteriorating day by day due to precipitation and snowfall as there is no roof, not even a slab, above them.

Locals said they have already approached relevant officials in this regard, but nothing has been done.

“During the government’s Back to Village program, we discussed this issue with officials who attended. If Panchayat Ghar had been there, the program would have been there, ”said a group of locals.

Panchayat Budgam District Officer Zahida Bano told Kashmir Reader that she will discuss this matter with ACD Budgam.
